This is an interesting one. Normally the big question is how to reset the service indicator.

Looks like you may need to get a reset from your dealer this time. Since you're going anyway...

The steps listed below is strictly a %26quot;trial and error%26quot; method. No guarantees it will work.

Option 1:

Try this... with the key off, PRESS AND HOLD your trip/reset button on the dash. Turn the key ON, then release the button. Your dash will go into test mode. Press and hold again. You MAY or MAY NOT see other options in the display... if you do, there may be a reset option in there.

Option 2:

with the key in the %26quot;On%26quot; position, open your brake reservoir cap. This will trip the %26quot;low brake fluid%26quot; warning. Then close it back after a few seconds. Turn the key off for a few seconds and turn it back on.

If this doesn't work, time to head to the dealer...Does anyone know how to reset brake fluid light in1998 e39 bmw?
The brake fluid light that will come on will just say %26quot;ABS%26quot;. The clock symbol youre talking about, i believe is the brake lining light, which is your brake pads. Bring it somewhere, or if you are mechanically inclined, check the front left and right rear brake pads, as this is where the brake pad sensors are. Once they are changed the light will go out after leaving the key in the on position for about 30 seconds, sometimes more.

I'd suggest doing this asap as the light goes on when there is about 3mm of pad left, and this will only last you about 1500-2000 miles(and will ruin your rotor and thats extra $ you gotta spend of they are still good!).Does anyone know how to reset brake fluid light in1998 e39 bmw?
This usually comes on because the brake pads have worn down, and the amount of pad that is worn off is made up by the brake pads moving in farther. This space is then made up by more brake fluid. Check the brake fluid level - I'll bet it is low. You can either add more brake fluid - or - put new brake pads on. If you just add brake fluid, becareful when you do replace the pads. You have to press the cylinder back into the caliper in order to get the new pads on. If you added fluid, this will cause the resevoir to be too full, or may even overflow and spill. If you put new pads on without adding fluid, the level should raise up to the MAX level indicator again.

Remember to replace the brake fluid every 2 years -Does anyone know how to reset brake fluid light in1998 e39 bmw?
Try turning the ignition key to the %26quot;on%26quot; position and leave it there for about 2 minutes. Turn to %26quot;off%26quot; and then start the engine and see if the light is out.Does anyone know how to reset brake fluid light in1998 e39 bmw?
First, locate the brake fluid light. After finding the brake fluid light, reset, it. Your brake fluid light should then be reset. If not, repeat untill the brake fluid light is reset.Does anyone know how to reset brake fluid light in1998 e39 bmw?
